Fairfield’s CRAVE Your New Neighborhood Spot

Remember the line from there theme song to the iconic TV show, Cheers? “A place where everyone knows your name…” that’s the feeling you get at Crave in Fairfield…right down to the big square bar with locals seated around sipping their favorite beer or beverage. Singles, families, tired commuters, and groups of girlfriends, Crave evokes that neighbood feeling many local bars and restaurants aspire to, but few achieve. Oh, and the food is darn good too!

Chef Rigo Lino, offers American comfort food and a dash of Italian favorites on his fall menu. I had the opportunity to attend a press dinner last week which offered a sampling of appetiers, entrees, and yes, a few desserts, paired with some excellent and well-priced wines from their extensive beverage program.

We were truly impressed with the freshness, quality of preparation, and service. Well worth a try…you might even become a regular! Crave Bar and Grill is located at 52 Sanford Street, Fairfield.

You have to start the night off with a cocktail! Go if only for this Blood Orange Jalapeno Margarita!

I’m still craving these eggplant stacks layed with tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella and basil.

Hearty rigatoni Bolognese is prepared with a blend of lean ground pork and beef simmered with carrot, onion, and garlic and zesty tomato sauce.

Fresh-caught grilled Atlantic salmon served with asparagus, roasted potatoes, and a tropical salsa fresca!

Richly flavorful pork belly rubbed with 16 spices and served over a salad of baby arugula and a drizzle of citrus vinaigrette.

Finally, a selection of desserts from the menu.

Taberna: A Taste of the Mediterranean in Fairfield

Capri and the Cote d’Azur may not be among your summer travel plans, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a taste of la dolce vita. Taberna Tapas and Wine bar in Fairfield offers a Mediterranean dining experience without having to hand over your passport. Taberna, located along the Brick Walk promenade in downtown Fairfield, offers authentic tapas, inventive antipasti and salads, and a selection of Mediterranean-inspired entrees in a lively atmosphere. Outdoor dining is available on the patio – perfect for sipping sangria!

Last week we visited Taberna and met Chef/Owner Daniel Lopez who treated us to a selection of tapas and his famous paella (which the Spaniard among us agreed was “muy auténtico”).

We began with grilled octopus dusted with smoky paprika.

Next, smoked wild salmon toasts topped with a bright salsa of avocado, radish, shallots and peppers.

Next, the perfect croquettes – crispy on the outside and delightfully creamy on the inside. unnamed-2

The Best Kept Secret in Fairfield County

Ask any Fairfield County resident to name the most luxurious hotels in the region and you can bet the Delamar in Greenwich and Southport are at the top of the list. Recognized for their gracious accommodations and world-class cuisine at l’escale in Greenwich and Artisan in Southport, the hotels offer visitors the only five-star experience in Fairfield County. But, what many residents don’t know, is the spas at both locations offer all the pampering one might desire in a destination spa experience right in your own neighborhood (or as close to it as possible!) – and you don’t even have to be a guest at the hotel! All spa services are available to the public as well as their distinguished guests.

What’s Available at the Spa?

The spa menu at both locations offer a variety of New York City-style experiences. From Swedish or deep tissue massage to Triple Micro-current Therapy Facials, the Delamar’s spas offer a suite of traditional and cutting-edge services. Each luxurious treatment begins in their well-appointed treatment rooms where you’ll receive a consultation and full evaluation from a staff of experienced, licensed estheticians. After customizing a treatment that address your unique skin type, the expert staff will begin your facial, massage, or body work. Guests can book a single treatment or an entire day of rejuvenation for themselves, with their special someone, or with a group (this is an ideal “day out with your girls” experience!).

Along with an expert staff, the  spa uses two skin care lines that are among the very best in the industry. The hotels are among the only in the area to use the exclusive Biologique Recherché (BR), the definitive skin care line, and Valmont, the ultimate luxury brand, and their highly effective protocols and treatments. Unlike other mass brands, Biologique Recherché and Valmont limit their distribution to only the most advanced spas around the globe. The staff at the Delamar hotels receives ongoing education in their cutting-edge products and protocols and offers these treatments to their clients.
