Vine Wine Room Opens in Westport

There’s no shortage of great restaurants in Westport, but we can add a new one to the list with Vine Wine Room. Located at the top of Main Street, in the former home of Luxe Cocktail Bar, Vine offers more than just fine wines and top-shelf cocktails. In the newly expanded kitchen Toni Ann Bailone Sapienza, who was the owner of Toni’s Tuscan Table in Black Rock, whips up homestyle Italian fare.

Vine’s menu includes a selection of bites (meatballs, arancini), salads (classic Caesar, Caprese, and more inventive options including a delicious roasted golden beet salad with fig infused goat cheese and drizzled with honey and pistachios), hearty pasta dishes (cavatelli with broccoli rabe and sausage, pasta fagoli penne alla vodka), and entrees (chicken or veal Milanese, chicken Sarpiello, red snapper). Toni’s Italian comfort food is hard to beat – in fact, she was a winner on Beat Bobby Flay and Kitchen Casino!

The modern all-white decor, lively music, and chic-yet-cozy atmosphere at Vine is welcoming and great for groups or couples looking for a night out.

Vine is open Wednesday to Sunday 5 to 10 pm!

Can Reading Make You Healthier?

Can reading improve your health? According to science, it sure can. Sally Allen, award-winning author of Unlocking Worlds: A Reading Companion for Book Lovers (Griffins Wharf, November 2015), will share a variety of ways reading can positively affect your well-being on Friday, October 14 from 11:45 – 12:30 pm at the Westport Weston YMCA (Schine Meeting Room), 14 Allen Raymond Lane, Westport. The author’s Wellness Talk will be followed by a book signing and door prize giveaway. Admission is free and the event is open to the public. Walk-ins are welcome.

5 Candles That Smell Like Autumn

Beyond pumpkin spice, autumn evokes an abundance of scents: bonfires, leaves, wood, leather, and crisp, cool days. Here are 5 candles that conjure up the feeling of fall.

Not only does this candle smell like two favorite seasonal spices — its wooden wick also crackles like a fireplace to keep you feeling cozy. Available here.

Autumn feels like a warm cup of coffee in your hands as you’re tucked under a blanket on the couch. Keep that atmosphere strong past your daily cup o’ Joe with this comforting scent. Available here.

For those nights when a bonfire just isn’t feasible, this candle brings the crackling fire and open air right to you. Available at Diptyque in Westport.

The deep, musky scent of tobacco is elevated just enough by a hint of patchouli. Available here.

Do you have a favorite fall candle? Let us know about it in the comments!

Last week, a friend asked me, “When do you stop wearing sandals? October? Is there a rule for that?” My answer, “You stop wearing sandals when you start thinking about boots!” And this week, as the temperatures are a little cooler, I’ve been thinking about boots…a lot! And I hope you have too, because we have some sleek, sexy, and oh-so-stylish boots and booties from celebrity fave Matt Bernson’s Westport boutique.

So cute, and the wedge heel is incredibly comfortable – love the chic gray with wooden heel!

Sporty and fun! Great for running errands, yet still looks supremely cool.

These suede knee high boots can be dressed up or down. Pull on with a flowy dress for a luxe boho look or wear with skinnies and a chunky sweater.

The perfect summer to fall transition shoe! Love the peep toe and tassel detail!

Sleek booties can go anywhere! The oversize snakeskin print is an eye-catching detail.

SO rock and roll! The cutouts are on point and very sexy!

Stop by Matt Bernson’s boutique located at 136 Main Street in Westport to see these and other  fall shoes and boots.

Green & Tonic Opens Westport Cafe

Everyone wants to eat lighter and healthier in the summer, but no one wants to give up delicious taste. At Green & Tonic you get both. With well-established locations in Greenwich, Cos Cob, Darien, & New Canaan, it’s only natural (pun intended) that the growing chain would select Westport as its next location.

Conveniently located in the heart of Westport’s shopping district at 70 Jesup Road (next to Tiffany & Co., and across from the library), the cafe offers a sunny spot to dine on its plant-based foods, cold-pressed juices, and luscious smoothies. Enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner in its chic-casual atmosphere Monday – Friday 7:00am – 7:00pm, Saturday 8:00am – 6:00pm and Sunday 9:00pm – 5:00pm.

“Green & Tonic’s philosophy and products are a great fit for Westport, said Jeffrey Pandolfino, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder, Green & Tonic. “The Westport community has been so supportive and welcoming. They’re health conscious and into eating right and taking care of themselves both mentally and physically, and understanding the role that food plays in that.”

Before Green & Tonic, Jeffrey and Cai Pandolfino started Plum Pure Foods & Catering in Cos Cob, building it into a thriving operation. After selling Plum, the couple opened Green & Tonic in Cos Cob in 2011, eventually adding locations in Greenwich, Darien and New Canaan.

Green & Tonic was founded with a spirited heart and an ambitious goal – to offer the purest, cold pressed juices, delicious superfood smoothies and nutritious, plant-based food that help toward a happier mind, body, and soul, while leading the way for socially-conscious initiatives. Green & Tonic hopes to engage the community in discussions about health and wellness with plans to start hosting “healthy happy hours” this summer, bringing in health professionals to address topics like nutrition, energy healing and massage therapy.

Tip #1
Don’t be afraid…it’s only paint, right?!  A fresh coat of paint can be a real game changer!
Tip #2
Wow with wallpaper! Wallpaper can make a big impact. We like to use wallpaper even in small spaces such as powder rooms and laundry rooms. It’s an unexpected and fun surprise.
Tip #3
See the light. Bring in new lighting with modern and updated light fixtures – let the light shine in! Even replacing your lampshades can give a room a fast, easy and fresh look.
